    Stacy Muller

Mainframe computer guy, video editing and effects

Sergei has for many years been (and continues to be) a fun and dedicated co-collaborator with me on worthwhile video productions. "Meet the Navy" is no exception, as he impressed me with acquiring data and footage on this great piece of Canadian history, and allowed me my input in ways we could partially restore the film in time for a public showing, and in ways we could further this effort. I can think of no one better for leading the way in this effort, and what else may come to bring life back into this great 1940's revue and film.

The film is great enough that it is worth preserving, but problematic enough that it needs restoration and improvement beyond simple visual blemishes given some odd editing decisions or possibly missing scenes of the original film. We've been fortunate enough to successfully use "motion-adaptive deinterlacing" on the video transfer as I've personally tested the transfer and found that it is incompatible with a standard inverse telecine process likely due to the transfer technology used on the film so long ago. Analysis of the quality of the remaining print and a new transfer is thus in the best interest of both archiving the film (digitally) at the very least and reinvigorating life into the film by working with a preferably new digital transfer towards improvement.

In more general terms, Sergei is a multi-talented individual with experience in both the commercial and non-commercial realms - which allows him the rare talent of being able to create a bridge between both business and independently spirited creativity!

    Thank you!

Saskatoon videographer, visual effects artist, and prior PAVED Arts board member.
